    Welcome to the SEA BEYOND Ocean Literacy Centre, a dynamic space in the Venetian Lagoon presented by Prada Group and co-designed by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (UNESCO-IOC) and CRA - Carlo Ratti Associati, to provide a place dedicated to knowledge and understanding of the Ocean, with the aim of raising awareness of its vital role in sustaining life on Earth.

    The initiative is promoted as part of SEA BEYOND, the project by Prada Group conducted in partnership with UNESCO-IOC since 2019 to raise awareness of sustainability and ocean preservation, contributing to the progress of ocean education on a global scale through a series of training initiatives for younger generations.

    The SEA BEYOND Ocean Literacy Centre will be open on Tuesday and Friday from 10am to 12pm and from 3pm to 5pm.

    HOW TO REACH THE SEA BEYOND OCEAN LITERACY CENTRE

    The centre is located on the island of San Servolo, a cultural hub in the Venetian lagoon, a unique example of a ‘transitional ecosystem’ shaped by the continuous interactions between land, sea and humankind.

    THE CONCEPT

    Designed to promote dialogue and an approach based on accessibility, inclusiveness and multi-sensoriality, the Centre's activities will be aimed at students of all ages, local communities, researchers, citizens and national and international tourists.

    THE DESIGN

    The design, entrusted to CRA - Carlo Ratti Associati design and innovation firm, organically conceives three rooms, which take a scalar approach, starting from an overview of the ocean to then concentrate on the lagoon ecosystem and the influence of human activity.

    THE SPACES

    The spaces are designed to follow the principles of learning by doing and circularity.
    Visitors will discover immersive maps created in collaboration with Dotdotdot, providing a dynamic view of the ocean and the Venetian Lagoon thanks to authentic historical data provided by CMCC and CNR

    Immerse yourself in hands-on exhibitions and workshops that unveil how water shapes our planet and discover the incredible biodiversity that thrives from coastlines to the deep.
