HIGHLIGHTS
Purpose and Values
Tied to a deep belief in the connection of fashion to culture and society, since 2019 Prada Group collaborates with National Geographic CreativeWorks to highlight the complexity of the Prada Re-Nylon Collection through a series of documentary films.
To explore the positive impact of the Prada Re-Nylon initiative on communities and habitats around the world, Prada Group collaborates for the third time with storytelling partner National Geographic Creative Works on a series of documentary films. The series features actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Sadie Sink, along with SEA BEYONDers and Goodwill Ambassadors of the project Valentina Gottlieb and Giovanni Chimienti, as well as local National Geographic experts.
In the final installation of this four-part film series, actress Sadie Sink introduces us to the Great Kelp Highway of Northern and Central America.
In the third short film of the series, Sadie Sink travels to La Paz, Mexico, and the Pacific Ocean to discover the whale shark, a "gentle giant" that feeds on algae and plankton.
For the second film in the series, Benedict Cumberbatch travels to the Norwegian town of Bodø, to see the impact of humanity on the sonic underwater environment.
The actor Benedict Cumberbatch visits the Lofoten Archipelago of Norway, within the Arctic Circle, to examine the critical issue of plastic pollution in the Arctic, alongside environmental advocate and actress Valentina Gottlieb and local expert Carl Höjman.
Expanding on the short film series debuted in 2019, in this second installation, composed of three episodes, Prada and National Geographic Creative Works delve into the why of Prada Re-Nylon: the dangers facing some of the world’s most delicate ocean and aquatic ecosystems, and the ways we can create positive impact.
The first episode focuses on the Indo-Pacific region and the fertile islands of the Indian ocean, examining the devastating loss of coral reefs and the inspiring actions taken by local communities to combat their potential damaging effect.
The second episode explores the Arctic, highlighting the issue of ocean warming and discussing the repercussion that human life has on the environment in which we live, and the knowledge we can gain from indigenous communities.
The third episode features the Mediterranean ocean ecosystem and documents how human activity has given rise to invasive species with detrimental effects on its fishing communities, to understand how we can help mitigate the problem before it is too late.
