Purpose and Values
The second edition of the educational module was announced on the occasion of World Ocean Day, 8th June 2021.
From autumn to spring 2022, the students involved took part in a series of webinars led by UNESCO experts to explore the ten Ocean Decade challenges for Sustainable Development.
For the 2021/2022 educational module, ten schools joined from Brazil, China, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, the United Kingdom and South Africa. Each student received a recycled cardboard visor so they could "immerse" themselves in a virtual reality content dedicated to SEA BEYOND to discover Prada Group’s commitment towards the ocean.
«For this second edition, we felt the need to thank all the students with an event able to celebrate the commitment that they continue to show towards the SEA BEYOND project. The international Ocean Conference in Lisbon seemed to us the perfect frame to discuss together, once again, an issue that is very close to our hearts: protecting the sea and its resources.»
LORENZO BERTELLI, Prada Group Head of Corporate Social Responsibility
«While UN agencies, countries, NGOs, private sector representatives and ocean advocates all gather here in Lisbon to chart the path to a healthy ocean, we must look to the work and commitment of young people from all around the world. This second edition of the SEA BEYOND project showed again that no student is too young to make the difference.»
VLADIMIR RYABININ, Executive Secretary of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission
In spring 2022, the Prada Group and IOC-UNESCO proposed a competition that invited each school to freely interpret (with text, graphics or interactive content) one of the ten challenges of the Decade. The winning projects were awarded during the UN Ocean Conference event in Lisbon on 29th June 2022.
