    Prada Mode Shanghai

On August 31st and September 1st, Prada Mode Shanghai took over Prada Rong Zhai, the historic villa in the heart of Shanghai. Renowned director, producer, and writer Jia Zhang-Ke has transformed the space into MIÀN, a site-specific intervention inspired by the director’s cinematic work. Prada Mode Shanghai’s daily program featured both morning and afternoon conversations with leading cultural figures for members to attend and daily screenings, including a series of short films by the director. During the event days, Prada Mode Shanghai was also presented in the format of an online club, live from 11am to 11pm through Prada Mode mini program. The 2-day live streaming provided a unique digital journey for the participating users through 3 channels entitled “Chī Miàn/Noodle Eating”, “Bǐao Miàn/Surface” and “Huì Miàn/Meeting”.

    Day 1

On August 31st, Jia spoke with Lian Yirui, Architect and Director of the Industrial Park Research Center at Tsinghua University, on the topic “What Color Is Your Hometown?” and with Xu Zhiyuan, Writer and Founder of OWSpace, exploring the theme of “Individuals Under the Epidemic.”

    Day 2

On September 1st, the poet Ouyang Jianghe and the writer Liang Hong joined a morning literature conversation with Jia on the topic “When the Sea Turns Blue”, followed by “Performing Arts and Acting”, a film conversation between Jia Zhang-Ke and actors Liao Fan, Qi Xi, and Wen Qi.

Members had access to complimentary daily screenings — including a series of short films by the director — held in a 1980s-era video hall, and to fine dining and cocktails inspired by the villa’s history and Jia’s own restaurant, Mountains May Depart, in Shan Xi Province. With the musical curatorship by actor Huang Jue, the ballroom has been refashioned as a Chinese Disco Hall from the 1990’s for DJ sets and dancing every night.

During the event days, Prada Mode Shanghai was also presented in the format of an online club, live from 11am to 11pm through Prada Mode mini program.
