On the occasion of the second International Roundtable on Sustainability organized in Milan on March 20th, 2018, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI) announced the release of the Guidelines on the eco-toxicological requirements for chemical mixtures and industrial discharges.
The document is the result of the work of CNMI Commission on Sustainability, of which Prada is member together with Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Valentino, Versace, and of the Roundtable on Sustainability, established by CNMI in 2011 and collecting prestigious Italian companies, such as Bottega Veneta, Ermenegildo Zegna, Fendi, Loro Piana, Max Mara, Moncler, OTB, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tod’s.
Following the release of the Guidelines on the eco-toxicological requirements for articles of clothing, leather goods, footwear, accessories, published in February 2016, this project focuses on the use of chemicals in the manufacturing process. It defines challenging yet reasonable limits on the use of mixtures in the manufacturing production and on textile wastewaters, as well as providing useful recommendations for the whole production chain.
With this new step, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and its members further highlight their commitment towards a radical transformation of the fashion supply chain, aimed at a gradual reduction of this important productive sector’s environmental impact.
