Purpose and Values
In September 2024, Prada Group organised two complimentary evenings of outdoor screenings of films dedicated to Forestami Academy. The initiative is carried out as part of the Forestami Project, with the support of the Prada Group, to promote the culture of urban forestry.
Festival CinemAmbiente, the international cinema event dedicated to the environment, has selected some of the documentaries to be screened in their original language with Italian subtitles.
Winter had lasted eighty thousand years when, in a very short time, an immense forest began to grow, rapidly covering the entire planet. This new planetary configuration involved real transformation linked to the cycle of the seasons, changes in the habitat and the evolution of flora and fauna. After taking us around the globe on the routes of migratory birds and crossing the oceans with whales, Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud take us on a journey through time to rediscover the entire European region, an environment that we have shared with wild animals since the end of the Ice Age.
It was an encounter with the botanist and ecologist Francis Hallé that prompted director and documentary filmmaker Luc Jacquet to embark on an exploration of the great rainforests, the green lungs of planet Earth since prehistoric times. The images offer a close-up look of the depths of the tropical jungle, a completely wild universe packed with hidden treasures, a world in perfect balance in which every living being – animal and plant - plays an essential role.
The Forestami Academy project is a three-year training program, offering a comprehensive curriculum with meetings, seminars, and workshops featuring national and international forestry experts. Its primary goal is to disseminate urban forestry principles and scientific knowledge, providing a valuable opportunity for citizens to learn and engage actively in this field.
