Milan, 21 May 2020 - Germano Celant (1940-2020), art historian, critic and theoretician, passed away last 29 April in Milan. From 1995 to 2014 he was Artistic Director and in 2015 he became Scientific Superintendent of Fondazione Prada, for which he conceived and curated over 40 projects.
Fondazione Prada’s Presidents Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada remembered him as: "a friend and travelling companion (…) one of the central figures in the learning and research process that art has represented for us since the early times of the foundation.”
In early May Fondazione Prada presented the project “Possible Routes. Beginning to reflect on Germano Celant’s work” on its website.
A digital space where to collect contributions, visions and reviews by artists, critics, curators and journalists who have dialogued with Germano Celant over the course of all the projects realised by Fondazione Prada since 1995 with the aim to undertake a journey of in-depth study and critical reflection on his figure as a thinker, who has crossed a plurality of languages and disciplines through cultural work.
